What Is Sonic 3 CZ?

Sonic 3 CZ is a fan-hacked edition of Sonic 3 & Knuckles meant to improve and build on the original gameplay experience while remaining true to the original design of the core levels and gameplay. It adds new characters, features, and mechanics into the mod while giving that old-school Sonic-style charm. If you're into Sonic, this is a great way to experience another round of Sonic, Amy Rose, and their friends.

How to Play

In Sonic 3 CZ, you are in control of the iconic Sonic heroes, all with their special abilities. Amy Rose is the new addition among the cast, being slower than Sonic and Tails but possessing extremely high jumping capability. She has no rolling mechanism, for she attacks using her hammer. Controls and level design remain mostly the same as the original, but allow for a few new kinds of gameplay.

Some Tips and Tricks

Amy's Hammer Attack: Attack enemies and obstacles using Amy's hammer. It's especially useful in breaking barriers and bosses.
Water Shield: Press down after executing a downward Water Shield action to land or roll instead of bouncing; this is helpful when catching quarter-pipes.
Chain Destruction: It is advantageous to destroy enemies back-to-back to gain higher scores and more rings; therefore, consider going for broke.
Transformation: Super Sonic transformation is accomplished by pressing one jump button whilst holding another one (for example: hold "C" and press "B"). This transformation relates also to Sonic having a shield, who then can utilize an Insta-Shield given that he has all emeralds and at least 50 rings.

Sonic 3 CZ is a community-driven project intended for improving the Sonic 3 & Knuckles experience. It adds new characters like Amy Rose, various combos such as Amy + Tails and Knuckles + Tails, and it adds some more gameplay to her by providing Amy with a Hydrocity Zone exclusive mid-boss.
