Sonic 3D Blast, also known as Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island, is an exhilarating 2D isometric action-adventure game that scales up the legendary Sonic open-hands and flings him into a new mnemonic space. Developed in the beta phase, the title offers a unique twist on the Sonic design by placing him in pseudo-3D environments. Your mission is to collect flickies, little birds that originated from the Sega arcade game, Flicky. It is a fish-out-of-water scenario, extreme levels, blasting enemies, and collecting flickies for time to make a difference. No Sonic fan should miss this great opportunity for a fresh and dynamic experience.
In Sonic 3D Blast, you get to control Sonic as he jumps and dashes through isometric levels. The game very much draws on 2D platformer tradition with an added 3D-like perspective, technically a bit engaging to glorify. Use an arrow key to move and jump. Press the spacebar to do the Spin Attack. Your main goal is to collect all the flickies in a level while watching out for enemies and obstacles. The isometric perspective requires a little wit as planning your moves is necessary to get to hidden areas and collectibles.
Sonic 3D Blast was developed in the beta phase and was later released as part of the Sonic collection. It was a unique experiment by Sega to try out new gameplay mechanics in the Sonic series. It never really saw a full release - that is what has contributed to the beta going cult-like amongst fan circles who appreciate its innovative spin on the traditional Sonic formula.
While Sonic 3D Blast never had an official release, you could still find its beta version online and play it unblocked on many platforms. This is your chance to have a little fun diving into an uncatalogued but highly entertaining Sonic universe title.
Sonic 3D Blast was developed by Sega early in its attempts with 3D gameplay in the Sonic series. Sonic 3D Blast proudly displays Sega's efforts to push the boundaries of what Sonic could do outside of the standard 2D platformer.
The beta version of Sonic 3D Blast was primarily designed for Sega Saturn and PC. Hopefully, it never really loses its official status on those platforms anymore, meaning you can still get it running over modern emulators or online platforms.
To play Sonic 3D Blast unblocked, use an emulator on your PC. Get a reputable Sega Saturn emulator to load on to the beta ROM file. Make sure your internet is stable, with enough RAM capacity to make the game run smoothly. Otherwise, check out an online game platform that hosts old titles.
