What is Sonic Advance?
Sonic Advance is a 2D platformer game that revived the beloved blue hedgehog for Nintendo's hand-held scene after the company's withdrawal from the console business. Those types of games bring back the classics of Sonic gameplay that fans adore: fast-moving action, agile controls, and a myriad of colorful challenges and secrets. Because it was successful, it gave birth to a whole series shown on Nintendo hand-held consoles, forever stamped in Kangaratrenia.
Gameplay
Sonic Advance is a classic Sonic game wherein one controls Sonic the Hedgehog as he zooms between the levels while collecting rings, clobbering enemies, and unlocking new abilities. The gameplay is pretty simple: one has to be quick and keen to maintain great reflexes and excellent timing. The player is supposed to cross dangerous terrains that vary from a forest to a city to underwater, with all sorts of enemies itching to kill you. The end of the level is the goal, along with the collection of as many rings as possible to remain invincible.
Tips & Tricks
- Rings! Rings! Rings!: Collect as many rings as you can; they give you your defense against enemies and hazards. With a dozen rings, you'll be invincible for maybe a few seconds.
- Learning perfect timing: Allow your timing to be perfected in jumps; jumping is very important to Sonic, from leaping across platforms to leaping on top of those platforms.
- Make the best use of the Spin Attack: The Spin Attack can take care of most enemies, but not always. Use it when you really need to.
- Glue yourself to each and every corner: Some stages have secret places hidden with goodies: life, coins, special items... So explore!
