Sonic the Hedgehog: ReOne is a dynamic, nostalgic, and Sonic-themed fan game, which goes back to the colourful '90s. The storyline of the game is set in 1990 on South Island, picking right after the events of Sonic Mania Plus, but with an alternative timeline. Risking the shadow of defeat, Dr. Eggman garners the power of an ancient invention—time travel—to interfere with the very history of South Island, which entails invading the island before Sonic could ever experience his sworn destiny. Sonic awakens early to find his home transformed into an oppressive regime under the Eggman Empire. With Tails, Sonic goes back in time to stop this horrible future. The game blends classical Sonic gameplay with a few contemporary twists, allowing for the novel revisiting of favourite levels and characters.

Controls

Sonic the Hedgehog: ReOne sees your controlling of Sonic as he runs about from zone to zone on South Island, collecting emeralds so that he may transform into Super Sonic. Multiple types of control styles exist, each one inspired by a classic Sonic game:

• Sonic 3 Style—This gives you the classic spindash and instant shield.
• Sonic CD Style—Should provide the CD spindash and peelout for an interesting twist.
• All Controls On—All controls from Sonic 3, plus peelout.

You can switch the extended camera on and off for an extra view and toggle the following special moves on and off: Sonic CD roll jump, Sonic Triple Trouble air roll, and Sonic and Knuckles slow duck.

Tips and Tricks

• Boss Battles: Eggman bosses are tougher than usual with "pinch mode" requiring some strategy for defeating him. Pay attention to his tricks and plan your moves accordingly.
• Special Stages: Collect 50 rings and jump into a lamppost to start special stages. These are platforming challenges where you collect emeralds to become Super Sonic, so use your quickness and agility to plow through these stages.
• Level Design: Some levels may be poorly designed owing to time fonts, but all of them are fully playable. Experiment with the different control styles and see which suits you the best.

History

Sonic the Hedgehog: ReOne was developed by a fan team of passionate creators who wanted a fresh take on the Sonic universe. Building on the legacy of classic Sonic games, Sonic the Hedgehog: ReOne set in new mechanics and new challenges. While developing Sonic the Hedgehog: ReOne, the development team drew inspiration from various Sonic titles, including Sonic 3, Sonic CD, and Sonic Triple Trouble, to form an experience quite unlike any other.
